daburnas Logbuch

Jedes Jahr ist es das gleiche Spiel. Die Tage sind sehr kurz, es ist draussen kalt und grau. Die Zeit bevor der Winter richtig losgeht. Vielleicht gibt es dieses Jahr wieder Schnee. Das lockert ja meißtens die Stimmung wieder auf. Ansonsten befinde ich mich schon in der Winterstarre, auch als Motivationsloch bekannt. Am liebsten würde ich mich vollfressen, alle Kissen und Decken in das Bett zu einer Höhle zusammenbauen und endlich Winterschlaf halten.

Seit gestern gegen 15 Uhr sah meine Website für alle Besucher so aus:

Bis heute 17 Uhr hat sich das Bild nicht verändert. Wodurch auch immer, was er verboten auf die Seite zuzugreifen. Der Support meines Webhosters war auch sehr ratlos und hat es erst nach 6 Anfragen geschafft das Problem zu beseitigen. Man riet mir dort ernsthaft eine Datei namens index.html im Hauptverzeichnis abzulegen. Für die Interessierten hab ich das ganze mal kopiert und hier eingefügt. Ich bin im folgenden innovativen Support-Chat “you”. Ausserdem habe ich einige Zeilen kommentiert. Fehler im englischen sind äh natürlich extra gemacht worden.

Ok, ihr habt nicht verstanden, warum es Datenschutz geben muss. Euch ist immer noch egal, was mit den Daten und Fotos aus eurem Profil geschieht. Dann lest diesen Artikel hier und denkt mal ernsthaft darüber nach, ob ihr sowas wollt.

Jetzt mal speziell die Mädels. Wollt ihr, daß eure Bilder dort (beim StudiVZ) von dieser Gruppe 700 notgeiler Typen angeglotzt und angesabbert werden? Wollt ihr auserwählt werden und später durch Massengruscheln vertrieben werden? Alles nicht so schlimm? Ach, die Typen tauschen sich auch noch über eure Adressen und Telefonnummern (?) aus. Und die Campus Captains inlusive StudiVZ Mitarbeiter mischen kräftig mit. Dann kann das ganze ja garnicht so schlimm sein oder?

Wollt ihr das?

Übrigens wurde gerade ein StudiVZ kritischer Beitrag aus dem Webangebot der jetzt.de Redaktion gelöscht. Wer den trotzdem lesen möchte, sollte wissen, daß die große Datenkrake Google diesen noch im Cache hat.

Aus der ganzen StudiVZ Diskussion ist eines ersichtlich geworden: die meißten Nutzer haben keine Ahnung was Datenschutz ist und legen keinen Wert darauf. Kommentare wie “mir doch egal, was die mit meinen Daten machen” finden sich zu Hauf in den Blogs. Also werde ich mal versuchen über die Wichtigkeit des Datenschutzes zu schreiben. Mir ist allerdings klar, daß keiner von diesen Datenschutzverweigerern den Artikel lesen wird.

Datenschutz ist der Schutz personenbezogener Daten vor Missbrauch oder auch Schutz der Privatsphäre. Hierzu ist das Grundrecht auf informelle Selbstbestimmung die Grundlage. Im Klartext heißt das, daß jeder Einzelne die Möglichkeit haben soll, selbst zu bestimmen, wer bei welcher Gelegenheit welche Informationen über ihn erhält. Besonders prekär wird es, wenn Organisationen/Unternehmen Informationen – möglicherweise ohne Kenntnis der betroffenen Personen – sammeln, speichern und auswerten. Daraus lassen sich dann Profile anlegen. Firma X kann so z.B. wissen, was du am liebsten isst, was du wo zu welchem Preis einkaufst, was du liest, wieviele Freunde du hast…man wird zum gläsernen Menschen.

Soetwas gibt es schon. Die Firma heißt Cyveillance. Hier und hier wurde darüber schon in Blogs berichtet.

Um das Thema gläserner Mensch nochmal zu vertiefen, kam mir die Idee eines Experiments. Wieviel kann ich über eine bestimmte Person mit Hilfe des Internets herausfinden? Ich brauche dazu noch einen Freiwilligen, von dem ich 1. Vorname und Name, 2. e-mail Adresse und 3. (häufigsten) Nickname bräuchte. Ausserdem muß derjenige einer Veröffentlichung dieser Daten zustimmen (am besten schriftlich). Bitte entweder hier per Kommentar oder per Mail an webmaster@daburna.de melden.

Ich weiß langsam garnicht mehr, was ich noch sagen soll. Allmählich gehen mir die Worte aus. Es handelt sich mal wieder um DAS Lieblingsthema der deutschen Blogszene in diesen Tagen. Ja, ihr wißt schon, das gute StudiVZ an das man sich als Nutzer doch schon gewöhnt hat und das man kaum noch missen will.

Das Internet ist ein öffentlicher Ort und jeder kann Daten einsehen. Ausgenommen davon sind jetzt mal Diktaturen wie z.B. China. Also muß man damit rechnen, daß alles, was man irgendwann mal, sei es auf einer eigenen Homepage, in einem Blog, als Kommentar, Gästebucheintrag, etc. geschrieben hat, irgendwie auffindbar ist.

Das ist die eine Sache. Wenn man dann aber Daten auf einer eigentlich geschlossenen Internetplattform wie StudiVZ eingibt und diese explizit als nicht öffentlich einstuft, denkt man schon, daß es dann auch so ist und niemand die Daten sehen kann. Nachdem gestern die Lücke mit den Bildern rausgekommen ist, kam dann heute die nächste Sicherheitslücke zum Vorschein. Durch einen simplen Trick ist es möglich geschützte Daten (in diesem Fall die Freundesliste) auszuspionieren. Alles nur die Spitze des Eisberges?

StudiVZ reagierte auf den Bilderbug mit einer Leugnung und Beschwichtigung. Allerdings haben sie den direkten Link zum Blog auf der Startseite entfernt. Aus Angst, Leute, die noch nicht davon gehört haben, könnte die kritischen Kommentare und Trackbacks finden? Wie dem auch sei. Das Vertrauen in StudiVZ ist am Ende. Ich möchte garnicht mehr, daß ihr darüber nachdenkt, dort auszutreten, sondern rufe euch offen dazu auf, dem Spuk ein Ende zu machen und sage:

meldet euch ab!!!
